May 2022 Image of the Month
Our May Image of the Month features Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Disease, photographed by Jonathon Thomas of California Retinal Consultants. Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease is a bilateral granulomatous panuveitis affecting primarily pigmented races. On fluorescein angiography, VKH produces irregular hyperfluorescence of the choroidal circulation with multiple pinpoint areas of retinal pigment epithelial leakage. This image shows the characteristic “starry sky” angiographic appearance seen in acute VKH.
